The Codex Cowl Now Comes in Worsted Weight

I've been keeping this one quiet. The Codex Cowl started out in fingering and DK, and as of today it has a third version in worsted weight. Nothing about the design has changed. It's the same cowl and the same stitch pattern, just worked in a thicker yarn, so it comes out warmer and finishes faster.
Why Worsted
Worsted is one of the most commonly used yarn weights out there, so there's a good chance you already have some in your stash. It's also thicker, which makes for a warmer, cozier cowl once the weather turns cold.
The bigger reason was the yarn itself. There are so many gradient and color changing yarns on the market in worsted weight right now, including lots of machine spun options, and I wanted a version of the Codex Cowl made for them. For my sample, I used Junction Fiber Mill Making Tracks as the return pass color, and you can see its color changes travel through the stitch pattern as the rounds build up.
About the Design
The Codex Cowl is a textured Tunisian crochet cowl worked seamlessly in the round. There's no seam to sew at the end, which gives the finished cowl a smooth, cohesive look all the way around. The stitch pattern is rhythmic once you settle in, the kind of repeat you can pick up and put down without losing your place.
You work the forward and return passes in different colors, and that's where the texture really comes from. The two colors play off each other in every row, so even a simple pairing ends up looking more complex than it is. The pattern is rated intermediate and comes in one size.
Choosing Your Colors
This cowl was made for tonal and variegated yarns. A variegated on one pass and a tonal on the other lets the stitch pattern break up the color in a way that's fun to watch as you go. Two tonals with good contrast give you a cleaner, more graphic look.
You also get to decide how the colors sit across the whole cowl. Keep your color placement consistent from start to finish for a timeless look, or add the optional halfway color change for a bold two-tone effect. In worsted weight, the bigger stitches make the texture easier to see, so whichever way you go, the stitch pattern shows up clearly.
