The VL Collection MAL Is Here

Something I have been looking forward to for a while is officially happening, and I want to tell you all about it. And its not just for crocheters, its for everyone: crochet, knit, or Tunisian crochet!!!
The 2026 VL Collection Make-A-Long runs July 6 through November 15, and if you have been wanting an excuse to finally make that scarf or finally try the hat, this is it. Low pressure, long timeline, supportive community. Those are the three things I wanted when I planned this, and that is exactly what it is.
Why July through November?
Last year I asked the Discord community whether they wanted a summer MAL or a fall one. The responses came in almost perfectly split. Half the group wanted to cast on in July. The other half wanted to wait for sweater weather. I thought about it for a while and landed on the obvious answer: do both.
July through November covers all of it. You can start something breezy for summer, or wait until September when the air changes and you want something cozy on your hook. There is no rush and no wrong time to join. The MAL will be there whenever you are ready.
What counts?
Any pattern from the VL Collection qualifies: shawls, scarves, hats, and ear warmers. All three crafts are included, meaning crochet, knit, and Tunisian crochet are all welcome. If you have been curious about Tunisian but have not tried it yet, there are beginner-friendly options in the collection that would be great starting points. And if you are an experienced maker looking for something with more complexity, there are plenty of those too.
You can make one pattern or several. You can finish in July or squeak in before November 15. The whole point is to make something you love at a pace that works for you.
Where it all happens
The MAL lives in my Discord server. If you have not been in there yet, it is a genuinely warm corner of the internet. People share their yarn choices, ask questions, post progress photos, and cheer each other on through the tricky bits. It is the kind of community where you can say "I have no idea what I am doing with this stitch" and five people will show up to help.

The Prizes
There are a few ways to win things during the MAL:
Post a WIP photo to Instagram and tag @violet.loops at any point during the MAL, and you will receive a free Violet Loops pattern download of your choice. Just for sharing your progress.
MAL members will also vote on their favorite WIP photo at the end of the event. The winner of that vote takes home a copy of every 2027 Violet Loops pattern.
And if you finish your project and post a photo tagging @violet.loops, you will be entered into a drawing for a $100 USD Loop & Whorl Fiber Co gift card, a $150 CAD Frosted Stitch gift card, or a copy of all 2027 Violet Loops patterns.
Final Thoughts
Make-A-Longs are best when they feel like something you get to do, not something you have to do. That is the whole idea behind this one. A long window, no pressure, and a community that is rooting for you whether you finish in August or squeeze in a finish the week before November 15.
